26. Delta Nature Trail

A spectacular stand of enormous Douglas-firs (5 to 7 feet thick) and moss-enshrouded maples once stood on the delta formed near the confluence of the mainstem McKenzie River and the South Fork of the McKenzie River. Sadly, the stand was severely burned during the Holiday Farm Fire (2020) and the old forest no longer exists as such. The formerly well-used loop trail through this forest is now indefinitely closed, the trail bridge over Delta Creek accessing the trail no longer exists, and the adjacent campground has been decommissioned.
