4. South Breitenbush

The South Breitenbush Gorge National Recreation Trail (3366) splits the distance between FR 4685 and the South Fork Breitenbush River paralleling both while bisecting what was once a delightful old-growth forest (~300 years old). The Lionshead Fire (2020) blew through here and significantly altered forest conditions, though based on the fire severity map I am hopeful some old growth remains. The access road and trail are still closed at present.
